Your Responsibility as a Tiler & Fixer

In addition to having the knowledge and expertise necessary to complete the kind of tiling work you require, your tiler should be a qualified tradesman. Prior to installing any tiles, the client and the tiler need to:

1. Recognise the existence of batch and shade variations within a product. In the event that crazing and/or shade variances are not discovered before the tiles are installed, Renditions shall have no liability.

2. Every tile should be checked both when it is delivered and after the work is started to make sure that it is what was ordered and that there is enough material to finish the task.

3. Recognise that no claims will be considered after the tiles are put in place, implying that the consumer accepts the product.

4. The material is accepted for décor, quality, quantity, kind, and shade when the tiles are laid.

5. The tiles will be provided in accordance with Australian standards, and they also need to be fixed according to those standards.
Viewing your tiler’s prior work is advised, as fixing tessellated tiles calls for different expertise and abilities than other types of tiling. The following extra conditions must be met in order to properly place tessellated tiles:

6. To balance the job’s layout, the tiler will need to invest time in comprehending the pattern and border that need to be fixed, as well as in determining where to begin and end the pattern and how it repeats.

7. To guarantee that the finished product looks authentic once placed, tessellated patterns and borders are delivered as loose pieces rather than on sheets.

8. The gap between tiles on a floor might range from 1 to 3 mm. This enables the tiler to open and shut the joints to guarantee that patterns and borders function and account for any size variations between tiles. This is common practice, and the tiler should never butt the tiles together.

9. A well-planned installation will have filler or infill tile in between the edge of the tileable area and the outside border. The infill tile is cut to fill in the empty space after the tiler centers the main pattern and border. The infill tile fills in any gaps if the area that needs to be tiled is not square.

10. Traditionally, 10mm notch trowels are used to lay tessellated tiles on a bed of sand and cement or non-slump adhesive. Tiles with tessellations are always grouted.
